Job Description: This position will be responsible for establishing and leading an architecture/design team to develop and implement advanced systems. Responsibilities will be in the areas of systems architecture, technical leadership and project management.
The position will be responsible for
- architecting solutions that integrate the functional applications that support research, trading, portfolio management and securities accounting,
- providing technical and engineering leadership in all areas of application development, and
- managing critical projects that cut across these functional areas.
Candidates must be able work directly with professional investment staff to collect and interpret requirements and deliver products that meet their needs. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Responsibilities:- Analyze business needs to determine requirements
- Establish and lead an architecture/design team to develop and implement advanced systems
- Implement structural changes to the present architecture
- Evaluate full system processes across all functions, ensuring complete system integrity
- Allow for future growth of the organization, business development, and corresponding technology support
- Consider upgrades or replacement of existing architecture components
- Establish best practice guidelines for development
- Document all new and existing systems with standardized software documentation protocol
- Establish formal code review processes
- Participate in management IT strategy planning
- Assist in building and managing teams that will develop the solutions
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years systems development experience using C++ and object-oriented programming
- Minimum 5 years database experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
- Minimum of 5 years systems architect and project management experience
- Experience in working in a Microsoft environment using Visual Studio
- Experience developing applications in support of investment management processes
- Good working knowledge of investment related data and systems
- Experience in full software development life cycle
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with internal personnel and external systems support vendors
