You will be solving business problems using technology in a fixed income group of a Major Brokerage House.
Description: Technologists (any tech) with biz knowledge

We are the youngest major business unit among Credit and Rates businesses and is growing at a rapid rate. We comprise underwriting, tracking, modeling, structuring, securitizing, trading and managing risk for a number of different Fixed Income products. Our goal is to craft a platform for the business that can stand the test of time. Much of the work that has to happen is from scratch and we need great software quality and engineering discipline. We are headquartered in Manhattan with outposts in Europe and Asia. Our working environment is high-energy, team-oriented, driven to excel, respectful, collegial and fun despite (or because of!) the pressure of being on "Wall Street." About the Position This position is for an experienced developer to work directly with trading, research, market risk and middle office. Projects you may work on include an integrated analytics, pricing and risk management platform, an electronic trading platform, a consolidated trade capture/position management/P&L platform, a sensitivity/exposures orchestration platform and a variety of trading, offering, cash-flow structuring, derivatives, database, market surveillance projects. We support a trading-floor environment where shifting business priorities and an iterative approach to requirements is customary. Many requirements will be acquired verbally and you need to be prepared to rationalize them. About You You are smart, innovative, talented, resourceful, self-motivated, high-energy, passionate and full of intellectual curiosity. You have had at least three successful years at a large financial institution doing similar work in fixed income cash or any type of derivatives and have developed areas of significant technical and/or financial expertise. You have been exposed to bond math, analytics, real-time market data and have facility with a variety of financial instruments. Kudos if you are intimately familiar with the Trepp or Intex C APIs and how to make your cash flows tie out to Intex Desktop. During your three plus years, you have developed a strong interest in the business and a proven ability to support your products. You make good time estimates, cooperate when planning projects that span groups, mentor junior staff and help to generally bring up the level of play for everyone. You have keen technical interests and top-notch software design/architecture and implementation skills. Your appreciation for elegance in simplicity is also welcome. You demonstrate above-average project- and time-management skills along with good oral and written communication skills. You are an efficient programmer and have learned to celebrate change and streamline your deployments. You provide an excellent level of service for your production environments. You have experience with a variety of operating environments and programming languages including Unix and Windows, C++, Java, C#, Perl, shells, make and friends, SQL databases, in-memory databases, multi threading/synchronization and distributed computing. You are adept with debugging tools and analyzing complex distributed systems. You like to contribute to all levels of an application from front end to back end, are generally platform agnostic and you prefer the right tool for the right job. Challenging technical and business issues will exist and you need to own them and eradicate them. Your solutions withstand professional scrutiny and can stand the test of time. You should also be comfortable operating in multi-functional teams and debating the merits of competing technology and operational choices in a frank and open manner. You have a can-do, go-to-person persona and an open, enthusiastic attitude and positive leadership tendencies.
