Controller for a family wealth management office located in midtown Manhattan. Investments include a broad, global portfolio consisting of fixed income instruments, marketable equities, hedge funds, private equity funds & direct private equity, real estate, commodities, options etc.
The controller will be in charge of the accounting, financial reporting and the production of performance reports in the office. She/he will be in charge of a small team and will report to the CFO of the office. The office uses the Advent/Axys database to record all its investment transactions. One of our most important objectives is to have a comprehensive and reliable database which is updated and reconciled with the brokers/custodians on a day to day basis, similar to what is customary in a global investment fund. It is therefore imperative that the controller have extensive experience and expertise in managing an Advent database (including various financial instruments) and reconciling it with brokers/custodians.

Two main products are to be derived from the Advent data base: 1. Financial Statements (FS) 2. Performance Reports (PR).

FS: Multiple entities exist and each has its own financial statement (on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis) as well as consolidated financial statements. The accounting package in use today for preparing the FS is "QuickBooks".

Since the controller is to be in charge of the preparation of FS, she/he is to be an experienced CPA. The controller's team will have at least another accountant to supplement him with the preparation of FS.

PR: Since our portfolio includes a wide range of investments through numerous investment managers and funds, we attribute special importance to performance (and risk) measurement and reporting. Since our Advent data base will contain all the transactions, it is our objective that the performance returns will be based upon them.

The candidate should have at least 10 years of experience.
