SIG is seeking a research analyst to join our strategic options trading team. Analysts are responsible for sector coverage and are required to identify trading opportunities within their allocated sector. This includes analyzing volatility events, interpreting breaking news, evaluating special situations and performing valuation analysis.
Essential Functions
Identify and analyze company and industry events that may cause volatility in the stock or sector under coverage
Collaborate with derivative traders to create trading ideas based on volatility events, the expected outcomes and the timing / probability of those outcomes
Provide real-time interpretation of market news and events.
Perform valuation analysis
Travel to company events may be required
Respond to inquiries from SIG traders
Work on special projects as required
Additional duties when assigned
Required/Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required, MBA or CFA preferred
At least two years experience working in the financial industry
Self starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Familiarity with a trading environment and derivative products desirable
Strong written, analytical and research skills
Excellent communication and organization skills
Willingness to work additional and flexible hours when necessary
