A Chicago based trading firm seeks a Support Specialist to provide support for applications and networks. Relocation to Chicago can be offered. The applications are predominantly Front Office Trading, Electronic Trading Systems, Position Keeping, Booking Systems and Exchange Connectivity Networks.
Candidate must have Trading Applications Support experience. Candidate must also have good UNIX/Linux skills and good SQL skills.

This person will diagnose problems and should have 1st and 2nd level support experience. The ideal candidate will handle configurations, installations, monitoring, and support of trading applications, together with their respective back end systems.

Candidate will be responsible for product rollouts, installations, and testing. This individual should have solid troubleshooting skills, as the position requires one to perform systems and network troubleshooting and network optimization.

This role involves teamwork with trader and software development communities at all levels within the firm. Excellent communication skills are required for this position. Familiarity with financial markets is highly desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of Trading Applications Support work experience
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge on the use of SQL is required
  • Knowledge on the use of Linux and Windows is required
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, UNIX Shell, awk, etc) is required
  • Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Familiarity with financial markets is desirable. The candidate will be expected to gain new financial knowledge as needed.
