A Counterparty Credit Risk Senior Manager role to grow the counterparty credit risk services offerings to the banking and financial services industry.
Deloitte & Touche LLP’s ("Deloitte & Touche’s") Audit and Enterprise Risk Services business has a risk-based approach, experienced professionals, comprehensive methodologies, and technical resources.

Deloitte & Touche’s Capital Markets practice works with various clients to improve their capabilities for managing the risks associated with operating in the traded financial instruments and energy markets, and enables them to meet their business objectives and remain competitive in the marketplace.

Using sophisticated tools and methodologies, we work with clients to address their most complex challenges by defining risk strategies, improving risk management systems, and streamlining processes. We provide specialized risk accounting analysis and support, and develop and implement enterprise-wide, quantitative approaches to managing market, operational and credit risk.

With specialization in all areas of financial and energy risk, our Capital Markets Global Energy Markets (GEM) and Capital Markets Financial Services Industry (FSI) teams work with clients to define their risks, as well as design and implement systems, enabling clients to monitor and balance control objectives with business goals and acceptable risks.

The risk advisory practice serves clients in a range of financial services industries including banking, investment banking, securities, insurance, hedge funds, private equity and mutual fund complex sectors. The risk advisory practice is part of and leverages our national Capital Markets practice capabilities.

Deloitte & Touche Capital Markets group works with clients to provide counterparty credit risk management services. Our professionals bring extensive experience in the counterparty credit lifecycle focusing on risks, process, controls, models and analytics, product knowledge, operations, accounting, and management consulting to each assignment. We're organized to meet the global needs of companies through our network of professionals located in the world's major financial capitals. We work with clients to define their critical risk/reward expectations, identify sources of risk, and then quantify, mitigate, and monitor them on an ongoing basis. We help clients draw the necessary information from analyzing functions with the credit lifecycle to provide tactical and strategic decision making. This position provides counterparty credit risk consulting services to banks, investment banks and other financial institutions.

Responsibilities:

Serve as project manager for counterparty credit risk management consulting engagements at banking, investment banking and other financial institutions firms. Lead all aspects of the project, including the development of a project plan, staffing, assigning project responsibilities and managing the performance of all team members to meet project requirements. Manage client expectations and interactions to maintain effective communications, client involvement and to ensure client satisfaction.

Originate counterparty credit risk management consulting projects. Maintain relationships with a large number of potential buyers at major banking and other financial institution firms. Position self and the firm for opportunities to propose on counterparty credit risk management consulting projects. Lead the development of sales presentations and collateral material. Make sales presentations. Demonstrate effective closing abilities.

Qualifications:
Possess an in-depth, hands-on working knowledge of all major topics related to counterparty credit risk management industry leading practices.

Major topics include:
  • Counterparty credit risk measurement techniques including counterparty ratings, probability of default, loss given default, exposure at default, current exposure, potential exposure, potential future exposure, mark to future, collateral modeling, portfolio margining and related concepts
  • Counterparty risk infrastructure knowledge including master netting agreements, netting hierarchies, collateral agreements and application of collateral
  • Product knowledge across entire range of traded products including:
    o OTC derivatives including swaps, options, CDS, etc
    o Fixed income including MBS, ABS, CMO, CDO, etc.
    o Commodities, FX, energy
    o Exchange traded securities
    o Private equity, PIPE’s
  • Counterparty rating knowledge for all key counterparty sectors including financials, hedge funds, corporates, merchant energy traders, etc.
  • Counterparty credit risk modeling knowledge and discipline
  • Risk assessment methodologies
  • Counterparty credit risk governance structure and design
  • Counterparty credit risk policy and procedures
  • Infrastructure design, risk controls and segregation of duties
  • Counterparty credit operational transformation knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with the functionality of major counterparty credit risk technology vendors currently on the market
  • Knowledge of relevant risk based regulatory schemes including Basel I, Basel II, Consolidated Supervisory Entity and similar
  • Experience with Sarbanes — Oxley, and FDICIA requirements and related programs
  • Possess significant contacts with the buyers of counterparty credit risk advisory projects at a large number of financial services firms. Maintain relationships such that potential buyers will think to call Deloitte & Touche when a counterparty credit risk related need develops.
  • Possess demonstrated business development skills in a professional services consulting environment. Ability to develop high impact business development materials and presentations which address client needs and demonstrate our capabilities. Make effective presentations of proposals to senior management
  • Successful candidate should have: strong sales, presentation, consulting, project management, client, and training / mentoring skills; proven ability to generate business; strong presence and good communications and interpersonal skills; experience in delivering services both assessing risk management capabilities as well as transforming bank risk management environments; conceptual and quantitative depth in risk methodologies and concepts and underlying markets and models; MBA preferred, and a flexible, dynamic work-style appropriate for the consulting areas of a large Big 4 Professional Services Organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business field required.
  • 8+ yrs. counterparty credit risk management expertise in major banking, or investment banking sectors is required.
  • An ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally (Up to 80% for extended periods of time, with variability depending on the current consulting projects and pursuits. At other times there may be periods with little travel).
