BlackRock Solutions' Investment Accounting services combine BlackRock's industry expertise with our sophisticated data management, accounting and performance measurement tools to offer customized solutions to a wide range of financial institutions. BlackRock Solutions has experience meeting the specialized requirements of sophisticated organizations with multiple managers, numerous legal entities, and complex portfolio structures. Our investment accounting solutions are tailored to meet client-specific needs and include accounting reports in multiple bases, Schedule D preparation, and custodian reconciliation and performance measurement.

Role Description:

We are seeking a developer who will be responsible for developing strategic enhancements to and supporting the Investment Accounting service. This includes utilizing PAM SDK and Messaging functionality, Export Development module, and UNIX to support client conversions, Aladdin/PAM interface, overnight processing and customized reporting of the Aladdin system. The developer will be responsible for implementing high quality technology solutions, establishing a strong partnership with end-users and other BlackRock Solutions team members, and delivering products that are aligned with business and technology strategies.

The individual must have a strong technical background with hands on coding experience and a strong understanding of the securities trading. Ideal candidates will have developed high throughput, large scale distributed global solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in project planning sessions with team leads to develop project schedules and work estimates
  • Continuous communication of technology decisions, issues and plans to senior team members and clients
  • Provides ongoing development maintenance of existing application functionality, working closely with the client support teams to address issues that are escalated for resolution.
  • Develop, maintain and support applications related to Investment Accounting service including web applications
  • Work with users and product managers to ensure applications are meeting requirements.

    • Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years programming experience with a proven ability to deliver high quality solutions
  • 4 year degree in a Computer Science or Technical Discipline
  • Experience in the financial industry
  • Exceptional general knowledge of IT systems
  • Strong database skills (SQL). Programming skills in Perl, Java, C#, and C/C++ a plus. Experience with other programming languages a plus.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies: Sybase, Apache (especially with ModPerl), DHTML, JavaScript, application servers, JSP/ASP/EmbPerl, performance optimization (database, C#, C/C++/Java/Perl), HTTP, TCP/IP and networking.
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows
