Job Responsibilities
Develops, enhances and maintains new and existing software and applications throughout US Active Portfolio Management Systems. Work with Portfolio Managers, implement new strategies and field incoming issues. Work with other IT teams to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
Work in a highly collaborative environment with other members of the PM IT team, taking the lead in specific projects, thereby enabling participation in all areas of the software development lifecycle.
Develop a thorough understanding of business processes and information processing requirements. Identify and learn key concepts with regard to the client's business process and business model, and financial trading products and markets.
Evaluate documented resolutions and existing application implementation; analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
Work with the PM IT strategic development team to recommend key requirements for productionalization of new trading applications.
Document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through to final resolution.
Qualifications
5+ years of enterprise software engineering / application development experience
Excellent SQL skills, preferably Sybase SQL Server and/or Oracle
Advanced skills in object-oriented design & analysis and object-oriented programming using Java or similar (C#, C++, Ruby, Python, etc.)
Understanding and practical experience with Weblogic (version 8+) and JBoss is strongly desired.
PERL experience is desirable
Experience in UNIX environments
Asset management/investment banking, or trading-related experience is highly desirable
B.S. (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field is required.
