This position is in the International Active Equity Technical Group of BGI. The International Active Equity Group consists of Equity Research, Portfolio Management and the Technology team. It covers all of the Asian, South American and European emerging markets.

This position is in the International Active Equity Technical Group of BGI. The International Active Equity Group consists of Equity Research, Portfolio Management and the Technology team. It covers all of the Asian, South American and European emerging markets.

The Systems Developer is responsible for the full software development life cycle for our investment products. The job covers System Software, Signal Generation Software and Business Applications software development. It also covers our daily alpha generation process operations, therefore occasionally requires work on weekends or holidays.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop alpha generation process systems for our new products.
  • Improve existing process systems, such as increase its process efficiency, accuracy and convenience of maintenance.
  • Work with Researchers to implement new signals in our current alpha generation system.
  • Develop new applications for Researchers and Portfolio Managers to monitor our business performance.
  • Provide IT support for the business unit and coordinate request from other related groups.

    Qualifications

  • MA computer science or related degree + 2 years of related experience, or BA degree and a min of 4+ years of related experience.
  • Prior development experience in Java, Perl, SAS. Strength in 2 of the 3 programming languages.
  • Prior experience with intensive data manipulation.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Experience in UNIX scripting and client-side programming.
  • Responsible and detail-oriented.
  • Effective in working on small or big projects.
  • Effective team player, able to work with people from different roles throughout the organization.
  • High level of self-motivation with strong integrity.
  • Passion for development work and applying new technology to business needs.
  • Strength in problem solving with a high standard of delivery.
