Duties • Responsible for conducting primary research/due diligence on hedge fund managers in the following sub-strategies: . US Fixed Income/Relative Value . International Fixed Income/ Relative Value • Responsible for sourcing, analyzing and formulating investment recommendations that will be presented to the investment committee (and should expect a collegial debate) • Fundamental research (both initial and ongoing) will include: o Multiple due diligence meetings with the hedge fund managers (on and off-site) - Understand the various drivers of return and risk - Quantitative analysis (i.e. return and peer group based) - Risk analysis/decomposition (initial and ongoing) - Attend industry conferences • Utilize a combination of fundamental, statistical and quantitative research to assist in the due diligence process • Also responsible for risk management oversight of the individuals respective “invested” universe • The individual will be expected to have an understanding there respective universe, which should include the following: - Global Fixed Income & Credit Markets - General drivers of return in various strategies. - General manager positioning in various strategies. - Potential risks in various strategies. • Voting member of the Investment Committee • Act as co-lead analyst for Fixed Income/ Relative Value • Collaborate with peers in other research strategies regarding potential and existing opportunities • Over time expected to be able to manage and develop junior analysts within the fixed income team Qualifications • Diligent and driven • Minimum of 5 years experience with a rolodex in the fixed income/relative value universe of hedge fund managers • Strong verbal and written communications skills, ability to present investment recommendations with precision and conviction to the investment committee • Absolute self starter who does not need day to day oversight/direction and someone that has the ability to co-manage and mentor junior analysts • TEAM PLAYER • Knowledge of global fixed income markets and economic drivers • Strong analytic and research skills • Must embrace both qualitative and quantitative analysis
