This is an exceptional opportunity to work at one of most complex database systems environments in the Southern Hemisphere, which is seen as an exhibition site / critical customer by Oracle.

• Assist in creation of enterprise wide, highly copmplex Oracle grid architecture
• 3 terabyte Oracle 10G RAC (8 node) database, mission critical 24x7 clustered database
• 10G RAC-ASM-Dataguard-RMAN(recovery manager)-OEM (Oracle entrerprise manager )

The Oracle Operations team provide operational support for a 3 terabyte Oracle 10G RAC (8 node) database, which is the core of the firms Client Relationship Management system. This is a mission critical 24x7 clustered database where performance and reliability are paramount. A secondary ‘Commodity Grid’ environment is also being implemented (3 x 3 node databases) for environment, process, support and hardware consolidation. The size and number of applications hosted in these environments will increase dramatically over the coming months. This technology support group works very closely with Oracle in San Francisco to implement the latest technology and functionality available, using every additional Oracle module available. Responsibilities include:

• Ultimately creating an oracle grid which will become a database solution on tap for the entire organisation, enterprise wide with all the applications running across the bank, rather than hosting apps on seperate storage, hardware,infrastructure etc IE to consolidate all apps / centralise apps across the bank
• Scheduled 30 apps to be migrated onto this platform initially with anywhere up to 100+ apps running off the grid architecture in the future.
• Ongoing, long term project, 3 new roles primarily PRODUCTION DBA not DEVELOPMENT.

Technical skills required include:

• Ability to design and manage an Oracle database cluster
• Excellent understanding of the principles of database design, particularly an understanding of query optimisation, locking and concurrency
• Advanced experience of Oracle database architecture and operation
• Advanced database and SQL tuning skills
• 10G RAC-ASM-Dataguard-RMAN(recovery manager)-OEM (Oracle enterprise manager )
