Responsibilities:
- Ensuring support issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Monitor the UNIX platforms, performing performance tuning and administrative duties.
- Participating in the day to day progression of the UNIX project work
- Participating in the call-out, overnight and daily rotas
- Providing UNIX system administration
- Application Release Implementation - and Post Implementation Reviews
- Development and UAT environment management - prioritising workload
- Provide Performance & Tuning Analysis to application teams
- Security & Audit compliance - to work with IRM group to ensure FSA standards are upheld
- Service Requests - Manage client/peer support groups change andproblem requests via management queue
- Advance the Sybase, UNIX environment with use of automation and new toolsets.
Requirements:
- Operating System: Solaris 8, 9 and 10, Linux: RedHat 2.1, 3 & 4
- Sun, Fujitsu, IBM and HP hardware
- Veritas - Volume Manage, Veritas Cluster, Veritas FS, QuickIO - version 3.x & 4
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Operating system installations via JumpStart and Red Hat Network
- Server sizing and design
- Capacity reporting and planning
- Performance monitoring and tuning
- Programming Languages: Shell (sh, ksh), Perl 5.x, awk, sed
- Security Tools & Protocols: ssh, tcpwrappers, SSH, SSL, nmap, SEOS, eTRUST, KeON, ESAC
- Compliance with both internal and external audit requirements
- Experience of development and infrastructure solution design/delivery
- Hardware: Sun Volume range, Enterprise F15K & F25K, HP DL 585
- Networking protocols
