Excellent opportunity to work within a Tier 1 Global Retail & Commercial Bank, based in London, within the Capital Strategy team, measuring and managing the regulatory and economic capital & economic profit across the Bank.
Our client, one of the top Commercial Banks in the UK, are keen to recruit an additional senior member of their Capital Strategy team, to work within a dynmaic area of the Bank. This bank are a substantial group, in the top tier of UK Banks, with excellent potential to develop and grow further through active management.

This is a highly challenging and exciting role within the Global Retail and Commercial Bank. A newly created function the Capital Management team will take primary responsibility for the measurement and management of regulatory capital, economic capital and economic profit.

The jobholder will work as part of a dynamic team whose proactive and innovative risk and capital management approach will inform key business decisions, creating value across the Bank.

Increasingly, GRCB is seeking to actively manage its capital. This strategy meets a range of business objectives, increasing returns on capital and capital creation, minimising loss volatility and supporting P&L growth. This approach to capital management in BCB will become the model for managing capital within GRCB.

The jobholder will lead and develop a leading edge capital modeling team for GRCB, forming a key of the Quantitative Analytics team, GRCB. The jobholder will lead a highly specialized and skilled team of 2 FTEs.

The team will help and drive the development and implementation of a market leading strategy for active capital management in GRCB. The role requires the capability to support the integration of capital management within the heart of GRCB, working in tandem with GRCB business units, Treasury and other areas within the bank to develop commercially focused solutions that support GRCB global ambitions.

Purpose of the role:

The main responsibilities of the jobholder are:

• Recruit, motivate and lead a high performing team • Provide best in class quantitative analytics and Portfolio Management techniques including the development and application of scenario strategy setting tools and MKMV. Economic and Regulatory Capital modeling for corporate and retail banking portfolios. o Estimation of robust credit loss distributions for GRCB at different level of granularity (at GRCB business units, country, industry level…) o Support credit risk transfer and securitisation transactions, using in house methodology for calculating capital relief and estimating the quantum of risk transfer provided for corporate. o Improve and develop the valuation methodology on a single asset basis or for tranches in risk transfer. o Work in collaboration with the other teams part of the Quantitative Analytics team, GRCB. • Provide thought leadership in the practical application of advanced quantitative methods. • Provide true leadership to his team, being completely focused on developing individuals and providing first class coaching and feedback. • Provide support to drive and support an active portfolio management function.
