Responsibilities:
• Report directly to the Domestic and Foreign General Insurance segment CFO’s and the Corporate Director of Accounting Policy
• Assist all General Insurance business unit controllers and CFOs in the implementation, interpretation and administration of US GAAP accounting policies, including ongoing technical assistance and periodic training
• Assure that accounting policies are consistently applied throughout the General Insurance segment
• Perform initial research and document the appropriate US GAAP (and US Statutory) accounting and reporting for all significant and non-standard transactions emanating from the General Insurance segment
• Serve as a voting member on all key transaction review and new product review and approval committees
• Serve as key contact in all accounting policy related matters with the Corporate Office of Accounting Policy, Internal Audit department and the independent auditors
• Identify and document areas where US GAAP differs from International Accounting Financial Standards (IFRS) as they relate to General Insurance Operations
Education and Experience:
• Proficiency in US GAAP required
• CPA with recent accounting policy experience within the insurance industry is required or at least 6-8 years of public accounting experience serving insurance industry clients. Financial services experience is also helpful, but not required.
Knowledge of U.S. Statutory Accounting preferred
