The EIB is the European Union’s long-term financing institution is seeking to recruit for its Directorate for Lending Operations (Europe) at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Credit/Lending Specialists

The Bank’s Directorate responsible for lending to customers across the European Union is looking for experienced bankers, with proven experience in creating and delivering structured financing solutions to corporate costumers and/or financial institutions.

As a key element of its strategy, it focuses on the value it can create for the projects which it finances.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new financing opportunities in line with EIB’s objectives
  • Evaluate proposals’ feasibility, analyse corporate, project and financial risks and propose loan structures and risk pricing accordingly
  • Negotiate and execute transactions
  • Produce recommendations for financing decisions in English or French
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with key clients and follow up proposals’ development

Qualifications

  • University degree and/or post-graduate degree in finance/economics or any related subject
  • Proven professional experience in the banking/financial sector, preferably in corporate finance and/or any type of structured finance
  • Expertise in financial analysis and cash-flow modelling as well as experience in credit risk assessment
  • Proven success in marketing to corporate customers
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French and good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

Competencies

  • Developed marketing skills for origination of corporate transactions
  • Strong analytical skills as well as ability to make sound judgements on credit risks
  • Good negotiating skills and ability to master complex legal and other documentation
  • Ability to draft clear and concise reports
  • Diplomatic skills and ability to deal with clients at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
