Strong prudential management has been a key to Macquarie's success over many years. The Risk Management Group is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. Risk Management Group personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.

We are currently seeking an ambitious and highly motivated individual to join the Risk Management Group's Credit Team.

Purpose of Role

  • Project managing/participation on the project team of the evaluation and analysis process of structured finance transactions
  • Due dilligence of documentation, to unearth any covenants or clauses that may impact the structure or pricing of transaction
  • Sector or counterparty specific market analysis and outlook, forecasting likely impact of changing market conditions on transaction or counterparty operating environment
  • Excess monitoring

Key Responsibilities

  • Annual review of the existing limits, market performance and outlook of counterparties
  • Real time, on-going and self-initiated monitoring of counterparty developments including, review of and seeking approval for, new transactions
  • Monitor and report any breaches or trading in excess of limits
  • Ensure that appropriate guidelines, procedures and approvals are in place for new products or limits, through proactive liaison with appropriate business unit and other relevant areas
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation and systems are up to date
  • Proactively engage with business units and colleagues to understand underlying needs and opportunities, and identify innovative solutions in a timely manner
  • Board paper preparation

Key Experience Required

  • Minimum Undergraduate degree
  • Relevant experience in a financial institution

Demonstrable Skills Required

  • Confidently numerate; able to distil, assess and test validity of high volumes, and complex data
  • Flexible and lateral thinker, supported by rigorous processes and are comfortable being challenged
  • Questions existing processes and has a continual improvement mindset
  • Comfortable planning and re-prioritising workload in an unpredictable environment
  • High degree of ownership, delivery and timeliness in a fast-paced, output focused environment
  • Anticipates and flags issues before they become a problem
  • Build strong, open, dialogue-based relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Working in partnership with a diverse range of business areas, you will assess a large range of complex transactions including structured derivative products, corporate lending, project and structured finance and equity underwriting. You will assist with the structuring of transactions, reviewing and negotiating legal terms as well as providing general advice and analysis to the business areas. This is a high profile team who deal extensively with senior management and your ability to effectively manage and analyse transactions is key to this role.

You will have:

  • previous experience in a credit, investment banking, legal and/or accounting environment
  • outstanding tertiary qualifications
  • strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • excellent communication skills and a commercial focus
  • well developed negotiation and influencing skills
  • flexibility and strong problem solving abilities.
