Markit Environmental Registry (formerly known as TZ1) is the global financial markets environmental “meta registry”.   The registry provides secure, robust, transparent and automated services for the listing and management of carbon and other environmental assets (including water, conservation banking, other biodiversity). Markit Environmental Registry is approved to list the majority of internationally recognised carbon standards including Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCUs), American Carbon Registry (ERTs), Social Carbon Credits (SCC), and Climate Community Biodiversity Alliance (CCB).

Position summary

Business Development and sales for the Markit Environmental Registry in the Americas (including USA, South America and Canada).

Sales is defined as:

-new customers

-managing existing customer relationships

-new issuances, transfers and retirements (in volume) by customers on the registry

Duties & accountabilities

Work with the US sales team in building a Sales and Customer Engagement Strategy for the USA, Canadian and South American regions (based on overall Markit Environmental Registry Business Plan)

Accountability: Target Customer List identified. Sales Plan signed off by Manager.

Implement the Sales Plan, building key relationships, and increasing revenues and market share accordingly.

Accountability: Revenue growth. New customer acquisitions, issuances in volume, transfers and retirements made, use of in-house centralised CRM and sales reporting tools

Work with the USA team to build a Marketing Strategy (based on TZ1 Registry Marketing Plan) for the American regions.

Accountability: Marketing Plan signed off by Manager

Assist in the roll-out the Marketing Plan, including appropriate direct marketing, advertising, trade show initiatives

Accountability: New customer acquisitions, Revenue growth

Work with the USA team to help build a PR / Brand awareness strategy for the American regions. This should include the joining of appropriate business groups and associations to increase awareness of the Markit Environmental Registry, and increase personal market knowledge.

Accountability: PR / Brand Strategy signed off by Manager

Assist in the implementation of the Markit Environmental Registry PR / Brand awareness strategy,

Accountability: Top Stories in Region about the registry (numbers of: published articles, quoted-in articles, TV, radio appearances). Speaking engagements in region (both for self and other Markit executives). Associations and relationships engagement

Building and managing customer relationships with key Registry participants.

Accountability: satisfied customers, market image and reputation as a good company to do business with, continuous increase in new customer participants.

Whilst not essential some knowledge and experience in the carbon and environmental markets would be helpful.

Some financial markets experience in trading and infrastructure would also be useful.
