Fixed Income’s technology groups develop and support systems which provide pricing, analytics, clearing and calculation services for Markit’s flagship range of Credit Default Swap & Credit Index, Bond and Loan information products.

Position summary

Create and then manage a new function to monitor, support, enhance and streamline end of day and intra-day batch jobs which power Markit’s industry leading range of Fixed Income & Credit Derivatives data products.

This role would suit an experienced technical manager with experience managing an operational support function in a high pressure environment which demands high system performance and accuracy.

Hands-on Oracle database experience, and understanding of Java, preferred as this role will contain a hands-on element and will also involve supervising and mentoring technical staff within these disciplines.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical manager with a numerate degree, or equivalent, to work on maintaining and monitoring systems powering pricing for one of the several of the highest profile asset classes which are under going rapid & exciting change.

Duties & accountabilities

Implementation of processes to monitor financial batches. Management of support of operational and technical incidents with batches from detection through to resolution. Creation, and line management of, a team of technical staff of 2-3 people in support of these functions.

Responsibilities will include hands-on fault diagnosis and resolution, process creation and optimization, knowledge sharing and managing your team’s performance and delivery against agreed goals and objectives.

Education and experience

The right candidate will have a very strong academic degree or equivalent background in a numerate discipline.

Solid proven track record in a operational and/or technical support.

Strong experience with enterprise-grade relational database management system, preferably Oracle.

Ability to read, understand and diagnose faults within Java source code and batch scripts.

Experience with highly numeric applications advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record actively contributing to the implementation of innovative, best-practice-based, technical solutions in a complex and challenging environment

Management requirements

Fixed Income or other Financial Markets knowledge preferred (or similar experience working in an alternative numeric field)
