An opportunity has arisen in the Desk Strategist area of the Equity division focusing on derivatives sales and trading. The desk strat team works very closely with all the equity derivatives desks, concentrating on their core pricing and risk management needs

An opportunity has arisen in the Desk Strategist area of the Equity division focusing on derivatives sales and trading. The desk strat team works very closely with all the equity derivatives desks, concentrating on their core pricing and risk management needs.

• Working directly with structuring / sales / trading to perform analysis and develop solutions in a variety of environments
• Front to back spreadsheet application development
• Payoff scripting and trade analysis
• PnL analysis
• Coordinating application releases. This will include:
Arranging UAT from structurers / sales / trading
Providing user training on new features
Development of library functions that allow for integration of trading spreadsheets to the core market data and risk platform
• Support of the current spreadsheet and tactical applications
• Conform to and participate fully in desk strat development structures and best practices


Much of the team has direct responsibility to a specific trading desk, building out solutions to specific business problems or opportunities. Given the close proximity to the business, the team members also work on development projects, not specifically aligned to one desk, but requiring a lot of business input and fast turnaround.

This specific opportunity will be aligned with either the flow or exotic areas of the business working to consolidate, develop and improve the tools that are used in the areas of pricing and risk management

Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of derivatives products (Equity Derivatives preferred).
• Ability to define, document and clearly articulate complex business requirements.
• Excel, VBA, Perl, SQL.

Skills Desired:

• Have demonstrated experience in developing software in a front office environment.
• Experience and understanding of payoff scripting.
• Analyzing new and existing trades (risk profiling, performance enhancements).
• EOD PnL analysis for the desk.
• Strong technical background to aid with pushing any short term sheets/scripts into the main risk systems.
• Experience of trade maintenance (update fixing, trade rebooking).
• C#, C++, Java.
