About the challenge
This is a role that will stretch you – technically and personally. Heading up a small team, you’ll take full responsibility for developing, maintaining and enhancing all our Stockbrokers websites. You’ll take the strategic lead in shaping these sites, ensuring they meet the business needs for today, tomorrow and the future. You’ll also link in with segment and global technology strategies to ensure that any developments and change of applications are aligned with central strategy and architecture. As the lead, you’ll communicate progress with key stakeholders as well as representing the team at project meetings. You’ll also have line responsibility, so you’ll carry out reviews and mentor the team. Finally you will be expected to take on somethird and second line application support to specific streams as required.
About you
This is critical to the future of the business, so we’re looking for someone who has experience of managing and developing large, complex eCommerce websites – so you’re likely to come from a retail or corporate background. Your experience will demonstrate a complete understanding of web technology, from the networking stack (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL) and server platform (ideally IIS on Windows 2000 to 2008R2) to the development frameworks on both the server (ASP and ASP.NET) and client (HTML, CSS and AJAX). Preferably you’ll be degree qualified (or equivalent), within an IT discipline. You’ll be both an outstanding technologist and a natural leader – one who inspires and influences others to achieve a common goal, as well as being analytical and organised.
