Role
Reviews and analyzes operations procedures, processes, and problems to identify areas for improved workflow or automation. Proposes process and system changes to improve productivity.
Develops appropriate plans to achieve agreed project goals.
Coordinates resources and scheduling to meet project goals.
Identifies and assesses skills and needs of staff to implement changes.
Liaise with training team to ensure staff are prepared for changes.
Principal Responsibilities
• Participates in agreement of short and long term goals for productivity, performance and capability of cash operations.
• Analysis of current cash capabilities with reference to the strategic requirements of the bank, and identification of gaps. Reviews documents, existing procedures, and processes and recommends where automation or improved processes can be implemented. Designs/develops new procedures when appropriate.
• Initiates meetings with business partners and/or managers for information gathering sessions to assist in the preparation of scope documents and business requirements.
• Proposes and negotiates systemic and process changes to achieve agreed business unit goals. Assesses the impact of proposed changes on workflow and on staff. Identifies areas of risk or inconsistency with policy or strategic goals. Designs and develops documentation to support changes, articulating potential fail points.
• Identifies and assesses skills and needs of staff to implement new system changes; liaises with the training team to maximize the staff’s ability to cope with change.
• Interacts with Systems teams to formulate and implement solutions.
• Prepares feasibility and cost effectiveness proposals. Develops management information reports regarding the operations of the area. Writes proposals for system changes and enhancements.
• Develops and maintains project tracking plans. Negotiates with partners to close gaps and resolve conflicts. Escalates major issues. Reports on progress and risks to senior management and committee structures.
• Plans UAT Testing, creates UAT test scripts/plans, executes and/or provides oversight to UAT testing of new systems and system modifications.. Evaluates effectiveness of new system changes; prepares documentation for post implementation. Documents any systems issues related to production and/or UAT testing as needed.
• Liaises with training team to produce procedures for manual and/or automated workflow or system changes for the business partner work area.
• Maintains technical knowledge of operations and how operation relates to other areas in the bank, and adapts to changing roles within the business and industry.
Skills / Experience
• In depth knowledge of cash operations, through experience in related areas.
• Knowledge of existing system and operational capabilities is required to assess automation possibilities.
• Advanced analytical skills are required to evaluate effectiveness of processes.
• Communication skills are required to clearly articulate proposals to a variety of audiences with appropriate degrees of technicality.
• Negotiation and persuasion skills are required to work with partners and implement changes.
• Organizational and time management skills are required to develop and monitor project plans.
• Proficiency in using office, project management and diagramming software is essential.
• Extensive experience in financial industry operations, process analysis and project management.
