A leading investment bank with an unrivalled reputation in Equities Prop trading in areas such as Statistical Arbitrage, Algorithmic Trading, High Frequency and Automated Trading have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced C++ Sofware Engineer to join their IT team in cash Equities.

Sitting directly on the Proprietary Trading desk you will be involved in the re-design of the application framework from scratch and support the business in a fast-paced environment. Interacting with traders on a daily basis you will be responsible for all aspects of the Software Design lifecycle and will be responsible as a team to design a system that is performance oriented and rock solid to support the Algo trading business.

You will need;

* Good practical experience of software engineering. This will ideally be from
outside the financial industry. Candidates from Research, R&D for Telecoms,
major software houses are of particular interest. Candidates with Financial
backgrounds will be considered if you have exceptional C++ development
experience
* Excellent software development skills with commercial or research background.

Technical Skills

* Excellent C++/Unix/Linux plus Python, Perl, Ruby or Haskell being ideal.
* Java/C# considered but C++ is mandatory
* Unix/Linux at configuration level, file systems, IPC, system internals
* Ability to diagnose network related issues with IP, TCP, UDP,
broad/multicast & network bandwidth, distribution of CPU power
* Software Design - understand high level requirements - OOD, UML etc
* Debugging & diagnostic on UNIX - (gdb, truss/strace, sotruss,
snoop/tcpdump)
* Preference for experience of public domain C++ components and algorithm
libraries (Boost, ACE) but this could be from commercial or academic projects
