Our client focuses on balance sheet restructuring and the reorganization of companies in distressed situations (partly insolvency situations), often portfolio companies of private equity funds.

For the expansion of their German/ European operations our client is willing to hire an experienced 'Director – (Financial) Restructuring'.        

Your tasks

• Execution (and origination) of restructuring and performance improvement projects (hands-on-work!)
• Balance sheet restructuring, refinancing/ recapitalization of complex financed companies
• Conduct of negotiations in steering committees
• Carve out and post merger projects 
• Partly shadow-management and operational work in the (portfolio) companies as interims-manager (CFO/ CRO)
• Consulting and coaching of the existing management teams in the (portfolio) companies 
• Management of restructuring-teams
• Business development in the corporate world, private equity funds and at workout-desks of major commercial/ investment banks

Your background

• 8 - 12 years of professional experience
• - from tier 1 strategy consulting firm or Big-4 audit firm combined with operational experience from a corporate (min. turnover € 300m) in top-management position (CFO, Head of Corporate Finance, Head of Treasury, Head of Financial Management or similar) 
• - and/ or from a senior position (1st or 2nd level) of a restructuring consultancy (or as Team Head of a restructuring unit of accounting/ audit firm or general management consultancy)
• - and/ or a private equity firm, as an investment manager (with operational responsibility for the investments)
• - and/ or as Director/ Managing Director at an investment bank in debt advisory/ restructuring or from a workout/ distressed desk (with additional operational experience from a corporate !!)
• Proven success in operational and financial/ debt restructuring is a must
• Clear functional focus, corporate finance/ treasury/ refinancing/ financial management
• Experience from steering committee negotiations or bank/ creditor negotiations (must-criterion!)
• Knowledge of modern financial instruments 
• Ideally management experience from 1st or 2nd management level
• Network within private equity, distressed/ workout desks at banks and top-management in the corporate world (in particular in Germany and Europe)
• Outstanding academic credentials (MBA from top business school is a big plus)
• Hands-on, get-things-done-type of person
• Entrepreneurial approach and mindset
• Ability to cope with board-level management, assertive
• Absolute flexibility, willingness to travel (you will have to work on-site at the portfolio companies)
• Highly ambitious, motivated to proceed your career in an unconventional and challenging environment, being part of and managing a team of outstanding professionals
