This IT Department provides infrastructure engineering and administration for all staff and applications. The vision is to provide leading-edge cost-effective technology services and support based on an infrastructure that is shared by our respective business lines, requiring adherence to common standards, policies and security settings. The teams are globally aligned in order to leverage best practices, standards and procedures on a worldwide basis.

The DBA team is part of the Systems group, which also includes Windows Servers, Unix/Linux Servers and Storage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze/troubleshoot database issues
  • Handle on-call alerts during business hours and off-hours ? Deploy database changes to production using firms change management/release management policies and procedures ? Independently handle database, infrastructure specifications, performance and capacity planning using statistical data related to database ? Review application SQL code and advise application teams with best practices and performance issues ? Setup and maintain database backup/recovery procedures ? Independently handle database projects like Data server upgrades, implementation of security policies, and disaster recovery tests

Lastly, the candidate should be process-oriented and be able to implement a common set of standards, methods and procedures used for all database work, as well as be able to recommend software and hardware upgrade paths.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required:

Excellent technical skills on the following technologies:

  • MS SQL (7-10+ years required)
  • Oracle (some experience)
  • Sybase (some experience)

Proficient in:

  • Performance analysis tools for databases ? Database monitoring ? Perl/other programming/scripting language ? SAN (EMC) and synchronous replication (SRDF) ? Windows and Unix/Linux basic knowledge ? SQL on Windows clusters

Desired/Plus:

  • Oracle (5+ years)
  • Oracle Streams (5+ years)
  • Autosys
  • NetBackup
  • Database certifications
  • NetApp knowledge (Oracle on NFS)

COMPETENCIES

Required:

  • Client focused, able to work independently while interacting across different teams to accomplish projects and must be detail oriented
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Familiarity with ITIL process

Desired/Plus: French language skills (written and/or oral)

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Experience as a DBA in a multi-technology environment (5+ years)
  • Experience working in a large, 7x24, investment banking environment (5+ years)

EDUCATION:

Required: BS in Computer Science or Engineering

Desired: MS/MBA a plus
