The Company

Our client, a Global Financial Services firm with approximately 500 staff in Sydney is a looking for experienced Project Managers to help scope and deliver multiple projects within their Fund Services ⁄ Fund Administration business. The role offers an opportunity to work side by side reporting and coordinating multiple Technology projects with Heads of Technology and key stakeholders ⁄ business partners around the Asia Pacific region.

The Group

The local Project Management team has a very large pipeline of work that has been held back over the last 12 months due to the global financial crisis, but in light of the organisations light risk appetite they have only been only marginally effected and are now in position to launch multiple technology centric projects. This has lead to a requirement to double in size the Project management and supporting teams (BA's and Testers) now that funding has been secured for these 6 - 14month projects.

The Role

This is the opportunity for Funds experienced Project Managers to join this highly regarded Sydney CBD team. Drawing on your 3+ years experience in Registry, Custody or Funds you will look to take ownership of complex projects to establish project requirements, priorities and deadlines. You will then ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high quality by following through strong organisational standards. The projects scope means that you will be coordinating both onshore and offshore resources, reporting and escalating project progress, financials, risks and issues and participating project estimations in the pre-approval stage. This role offers the opportunity to operate with a relative amount of autonomy whilst working as part of the Asia Pacific team contributing to wider global organizational development.

The position requires the incumbent to have a broad understanding of Information Technology, specifically in Application Development ⁄ Software Upgrades and be capable of working in an environment that requires flexibility, problem solving, delegation and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of Securities Services, Fund Administration, Custody, Registry Projects - On time, On Budget and with a market leading level of quality.
  • Weekly reporting of project status to key business individuals
  • Managing and accountability for the technology component of the project budget.
  • Regular interactions with multiple business areas and technology teams
  • Facing off to senior management, including close interaction with the business
  • Wide exposure to a large range of business systems
  • Perform in an environment where multi-tasking, constant problem resolution and on-going risk assessment is the standard 

Experience required:

  • Min 5yrs Experience as a Technology Project Manager
  • Min 3yrs Experience in Registry, Custody, Fund Services, Fund Administration, Securities Services
  • Exceptional history of successful delivery of projects in complex environments
  • Experience of working with a strategic sourcing model for project delivery
  • Experience in delivering Development ⁄ Application ⁄ Software focused Projects
  • Exposure to a variety of project management methodologies.
  • Official Project Management Certification (PMP : PMBOK - Desirable)

Non technical skills required include:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership behaviours, negotiations and organisational skills.
  • Self sufficient, highly motivated, resourceful individual
  • Be a problem owner and solver with a logical approach to solving issues
