Responsibilities

Business Unit and Department Structure
Global Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (GCCIBT) Asia Pacific handles the technology application development and support for small business, institutional & investment banking in addition to Client on-boarding and client data maintenance for the enterprise. The department interacts heavily with Global partners in the U.S.  

Project Background
The team would develop and support client data applications, in close co-ordination with global partners in the U.S. and other locations.

 Role / Responsibilities / Key objectives

This is a senior team manager position. We are looking for a leader who has demonstrated abilities to grow and lead a team of intermediate level on-shore and off-shore technical developers (through project lead(s). The manager would need to supervise the team's daily activities as well as strategic path.


This manager would get to recruit his/her team, from scratch, to match stakeholder needs. The initial set of projects / assignments have already been identified with Business partners in the U.S.  Full recruitment support from a seasoned recruitment team would be on-hand to assist.

The individual also needs to be well-versed with popular technologies and have good understanding of relevant concepts and trends. Demonstrated ability in developing and particularly in providing top-notch support of relevant technology solutions by leveraging operations support best practices such as ITIL's Incident Management and Problem Management processes or other SDLC processes is required.

This position will entail:

  •  Regular interaction with initiative team leads, business partners and senior management and requires a demonstrated ability to negotiate "win-win" outcomes to enable timely delivery of projects as well as balancing and protecting the quality of the deliverables and stability of the production environment.  
  • Good knowledge and demonstrated abilities of project management, management reporting and escalation, prioritization and execution of multiple tasks.
  • Standard responsibilities surrounding SDLC such as design, development, code-review, integration and unit testing, etc. are expected to be ingrained. 


Managerial Skills:

  • Proven experience in growing and leading mid-large sized teams towards successful completion of projects & programs. Candidate should have at least 3 years in such a role, out of a total of at least 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in mentoring and being responsible for the team’s career growth, performance appraisal etc.
  • Experience in managing global teams with specific experience as an off-shore development manager (manager and team located off-shore from business / tech customers).
  • Experience in executing sub-contracted, fixed bid / time & material  projects at a remote location.
  • Expertise in managing related projects - JAVA technology / Client Data domain
  • Demonstrated experience in management reporting, including transparent and timely reporting to remote business partners.
  • Process expertise - Project management methodologies


Technical Skills:

  • Experience with web technologies (preferably Java).
  • Should be able to give technology direction to the team.
  • Should possess sufficient tech know-how to interact constructively with architects and tech leads.


Interpersonal Skills:

  • Team Leader and self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to liaison with business partners as well as partner technology teams and influence and negotiate "win-win" outcomes
  • Desire to mentor and invest time on on-shore and off-shore development team members
  • Ability to proactively juggle responsibilities spanning a 24X7 time-frame with a positive and can-do attitude


Desired Skills
Domain: Client on-boarding, Anti-money laundering, Know-your Customer and Client Data maintenance domain knowledge is a plus
