IB Risk Methodology is a global team of highly skilled, technical derivatives professionals responsible for the development of methodologies for evaluating market and credit risk together with the validation of models used for valuation and risk quantification across the bank. Furthermore, Risk Methodology is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance on quantitative aspects of valuation and risk, and developing methodologies for calculating and updating reserves.
The Model Review and Governance team (MRG) sits within the COO group of IB Risk Methodology and is responsible for a variety of control activities. The responsibilities of the team are to ensure that the front to back framework of policies, procedures and processes are consistent and that the appropriate governance tools are in place. This activity entails a majority of project oriented work on identified problem areas and a subset of activities to help provide the management oversight.
In this exciting new role, you will have the opportunity to bring in your experience across the areas Business Planning, Measurement and Tracking, and Change Performance Management, with the challenge to leveraging them across to new organisational units.
Scope of role
Coordination and project management of various projects in the space of the departmental governance, including:
Improvement/extension of the reporting framework to senior management
Development and introduction of performance and risk indicators
Ensure the resolution of issues are effectively addressed and evidenced – many of the projects will be run on subjects that might be subject to Audit activity later on
Audit, regulatory and Operational Risk coordination within IB Risk Methodology:
Communicating with the Auditors on the running Audits – this includes internal as external Auditors
Collecting and coordination the delivery of the requested material
Discussing and coordinating meetings with the relevant subject matter experts within Methodology
Activities linked to regulatory remediation requirements
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the other members within IB Risk Methodology to develop and deliver solutions and analysis of a consistently high quality. In addition they will need to work closely with other groups within Risk Control, centralised Group Functions and other areas within the bank.
Skills
Ideally the candidate possesses the following skill set:
Functional/Technical
- A broad technical knowledge of the financial markets in which UBS is active
- Some knowledge of market risk issues and concepts such as Value-at-Risk, Stress testing, and Greeks
- Strong IT skills, very good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint
- Access experience is desirable
- Performance measurement experience (e.g. metrics, balanced scorecard)
- Business or project planning
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to liaise across various business groups across the bank and with senior management
- Self-motivated, flexible, thorough and responds well to pressure
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and meet client needs
- Thorough but pragmatic work style, demonstrating diligence and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to communicate directly with external and internal clients, with a professional approach at all times
Education / Experience:
- Graduate or graduate cailbre
- Financial Services or Investment banking experience.
- Experience in Risk Management and with industry and regulatory issues
