THE FIRM

Our client’s Valuation & Business Modelling Group provides Business and Capital Equipment Valuations, Modelling, Business Performance Management and Economic Advisory services.

They are increasing their focus on the Dispute Resolution and expert witness sector where they believe there are significant growth opportunities for the team. 

We are looking to recruit senior valuers with significant valuation experience and a desire to move into the professional services environment and specialise in this area, or individuals with recent valuation experience and relevant experience of working within a legal services organisation or within the expert witness arena. 

The focus of the Group's work may be divided into the following categories:
Commercial

The team regularly advise companies, partnerships and individuals on valuations, acquisitions, disposals and mergers across a wide range of industries.

Dispute resolution

The Group are recognised specialists within the field of dispute resolution, litigation support and expert valuations. The team regularly acts as independent experts and by way of example, have represented clients before the international courts in the Hague and Geneva and The European Commission in Brussels.

Taxation

The team regularly undertake valuations for fiscal purposes in the UK and other territories and is ideally placed to advise on all aspects of tax valuation issues as three senior members of the team formerly worked in the HM Revenue & Customs, Shares Valuation.

Intellectual Property

The team specialises in the valuation of intellectual property such as trademarks, brand names, know how, customer lists, copyrights, patents and licenses and has considerable experience in this area.

Regulatory and Accounting

Combining valuation and accounting skills the team has considerable expertise to deal with the requirements for valuations under International Accounting Standards  in respect of business combinations and impairment reviews for both UK and US purposes. 

THE ROLE

At the VP level we are looking for a highly proactive individual who will help to drive our business and support a Director/Partner. Gravitas and credibility in front of clients and their legal advisers is vital as is an ability to prepare documents for submission to Court.  The individual will need to be a self starter with strong business development skills and team handling skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Undertaking and managing valuation assignments by delivering valuations on time and to assignment budget and timetable.
• Formulating views on value.
• Appreciate the context in which valuation is required by gaining an understanding of the client's issues.
• Producing written file note, letter, presentation or report and presenting conclusions to a Partner.
• Coach junior team members to ensure business valuations skills are developed and that work performed is to the required standard.
• Developing and taking to market new products and solutions.
• Building and developing relationships in the Dispute Resolution and Legal markets externally and within the firm.
• Taking a leading role in finding opportunities and winning work in the Dispute Resolution sector.

THE CANDIDATE

• Good first degree, possibly MBA/ACA/ or CFADemonstrable expertise in and knowledge of valuations, and of the role of the expert witness in the context of Dispute Resolution. Ability to prepare documents  for submission to Court
• Experience of business development activity and success.
• Project management skills, leading teams and juggling more than one project at a time.
• Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
