JOB INFORMATION

The Senior Quality Control Specialist will report directly to the Director of Single Family Credit Risk in Fannie Mae's Enterprise Risk Management division. The ideal candidate will be an important member of the team responsible for Credit Risk, Developing, recommending, implementing and monitoring quality control standards on various Underwriting functions including but not limited to; Loan Quality Review and Compliance, Loan Eligibility, Reporting, and Training.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Conduct credit analyses using advanced methods and tools of aggregated data provided by lenders, clients of the organization, or other sources of data.

May take lead in maintaining data integrity of proprietary credit rating or underwriting applications and assist as a business-end user in their systems enhancements.

Research frauds and patterns, initiate and contribute to new tools for detecting fraud. Make recommendations for new policies to minimize fraud and control other risks more effectively.

Advise marketing staff or customers about corporate quality control policies and counsel them to adopt practices that assure better chance of success in deals or transactions.

May lead analytical, policy development, or integration effort within unit or with other corporate departments.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for on-site lender support

  • Analysis and reconciliation of information from National Underwriting Centers to lender Quality Control

  • Advise and provide recommendations to team members consulting with lenders on improvement of Q.C. , underwriting competency and other related areas

  • Working with Account Teams responsible for identification of process gaps and building action plans to help remediate defects, findings, and trends

  • Resolving audit QC findings

Skills

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Master or Other Advanced Degree preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • 8 years of related experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Supervisory experience including underwriting, quality control and risk management. Overall origination, processing and servicing management experience would be beneficial.

  • In-depth knowledge of Fannie Mae Selling Guide and Announcements required.

  • Strong analysis, problem solving, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong written, oral, and effective presentation skills to internal and external customers.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced team environment.

  • Must exhibit strong leadership skills and ability to execute prompt and decisive action.

  • Must have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects; accurately scope complexity and length, and execute with energy.

  • Must be able and willing to travel to support customer engagements, as needed (approximately 50 - 60%)

  • Must be flexible and have the ability and manage multiple tasks and support customers of various types, size and complexity.
