Set, manage and improve internal processes relating to the management of data required for risk management and group reporting purposes.

Strong prudential management has been a key to Macquarie's success over many years. The Risk Management Group is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. Risk Management Group (RMG) personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.

RMG Credit assesses the credit risk on lending and trading transactions. It allocates credit limits for counterparties and countries, develops procedures for measuring credit exposures and reviews the adequacy of legal documentation.

The Data Policy team provides support to the RMG divisons (primarily Credit and RMG Prudential, Capital & Markets) and Corporate Affairs (CAG) Regulatory Reporting and acts as a conduit between these divisions and business units. It is responsible for setting, managing and improving internal processes related to the management of data required for risk management and group reporting purposes. It is also responsible for defining operational policy and ensuring compliance with these policies. The Data Policy team takes a hands-on approach to data management and is highly involved in new business set up and new product approvals.

The Data Policy division is currently looking for a highly motivated person to assist with the above mentioned functions. This is a technical role requiring reasonable IT proficiency, strong product risk and accounting knowledge, practical project management ability is essential. You will be responsible for project management for defined initiatives, communication with offshore offices and advice on policies and procedures as well as business specification and testing co-ordination. In addition to the supervisory element of this position, hands on work will be required and you will be responsible for the delivery of a number of projects.

This role requires an individual with a strongly analytical approach to challenging current practices and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement. You will also be expected to develop into a subject matter expert in relation to internal policies, risk management, relevant regulations and financial products.

You will have:

  • Excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with people at all levels and businesses
  • The ability to detect and resolve underlying problems as well as to drive process improvement
  • The ability to understand and communicate complex concepts
  • A cheerful, service-oriented attitude combined with an ability to determine and articulate conflicting interests
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to work towards and meet deadlines
  • Tenacity and flexibility with the ability to work autonomously and to manage a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both IT and business specialists and develop specifications which clearly articulate issues/requirements and proposed solutions.

  • A financial services background, preferably in investment banking or a trading systems support area is essential. It is also essential to have a reasonable level of knowledge of risk, regulatory and corporate reporting.
