Our client is a major financial services provider engaged in commercial lending and corporate finance activities in highly niche industry segments. Its renowned Research unit has become a global knowledge provider. Using this powerful tool they transfer extensive knowledge of sector trends and corporate strategies, to play an advisory role to existing and prospective clients. Due to business expansion in Greater China, our client is seeking a senior executive to join as:

Role objective

Build, share and apply knowledge and manage the activities of a team of analysts in a cluster of sectors in order to provide the adequate products and services that help positioning of the Bank

Lead a team of analysts and support staff based in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong

Ensure proper servicing of internal clients of the bank with the highest quality research products

Responsibilities

• Plans and evaluates the team’s efforts for commercial support
• Maintains direct contacts with the heads of the commercial units to evaluate the contribution of his/her team
• Generates ideas to develop more business for the bank and assist with origination of advisory mandates
• Takes initiatives if necessary to accompany RM’s on client visits
• Reviews business plans upon request
• Plans and evaluates the team’s efforts for profiling the bank and generates ideas in this field
• Designs and writes studies along with analysts
• Delivers presentations to clients and audiences on all industry subjects and beyond if necessary
• Delivers interviews and press articles on his/her industry and beyond if necessary
• Generates ideas for, designs and runs internal and external client events such as round tables/workshops etc
• Plans and evaluates the teams efforts for credit risk management
• Proactively monitors developments that are relevant for the credit portfolio of the bank and informs the relevant entities in the bank
• Plans the knowledge development in the team and executes research activities him/herself
• Ensures a consistent quality of the output of the team
• Cross references work of colleagues
• Develops views on the major players in the industry, on trends and on latest news topics
• Proactively identifies sectors/issues relevant for bank’s business
• Coaches and mentors all team members

Requirement

• Extensive macro-economic research experience, minimum of 12 years experience
• Relevant Masters Degree and proficiency with use of computers
• Management experience, with last 5 years in a team-leader role
• Profound insights and knowledge in food, agriculture and/or clean tech industries
• Excellent English language is a must, fluency in Chinese a ‘plus’
