Department overview
 
Regional departments exist in London and New York. A new department will be set up in Singapore in Q1 2010. This team will focus on building out the Asia Pacific Evaluated Bonds service. The team will closely interact with Sales and the London and New York Evaluated Bonds teams.

Position summary

Evaluated Bonds is a cash bond pricing venture the firm has undertaken to compete in the cash bond pricing space. We are building a team of pricing analysts whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the aspects of the “context of the market” are reflected in the model inputs. Customer contact will be an increasing part of the position as our customer base grows. Participation in model enhancement design and ancillary product development will also be a part of the analyst role.

Duties & accountabilities

The pricing analyst’s primary responsibility is to maintain the accuracy and delivery timeliness of the evaluated pricing required by our client base. The analyst is also responsible for the integrity of the yield curve inputs that act as the primary input to the pricing process. The curves must have visual consistency as they will contribute to desktop applications and take on a customer facing role.

Business competencies
 
Education and experience

University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent.

Experience should be in a hands on capital markets role. Trading assistant, market analyst, or a pricing analyst from another vendor.

Good excel skills.

Knowledge of VBA and SQL preferred.

Commercial awareness

Knowledge of the fixed income markets, particularly the cash bond markets. Keen awareness of the credit space.

The candidate must have a natural attraction to the market and the issuers that compose it. The analyst candidate must be highly detail oriented.

Communication

Constant communication between teammates is critical in daily model maintenance. Ability to articulate situations clearly and quickly is a key characteristic for the analyst candidate.

Teamwork
 
The pricing team is a small unit operating in a time sensitive environment. As such, all members, including line managers, must participate in all activities necessary to keep the product competitive and moving forward. Ego has no place on the pricing desk. A sense of willingness to do whatever needs to be done is key to the team operating effectively. Flexible working hours to cover London shift when required.
