Deutsche Bank is exposed to a wide range of risks every day which can impact its reputation and capital. Legal Risk & Capital (LRC) is recognized as a market leader in the risk management industry to guard against such exposures. LRC manages all aspects of risks, such as credit loss, volatility of market prices, operational failures, liquidity shortages, regulatory and legal matters. All risks are managed from the analysis of counterparty credit risk and the stress-testing of market movements, to the protection of the Bank’s infrastructure and information. Quantitative Portfolio Analyst – Quantitative Market Risk R&D - VP

The majority of the team’s work is project-based research. We need to efficiently solve the problems brought to the group, drawing on a range of experience and contacts across the bank, and in particular working closely with the risk managers and model validation staff.
Responsibilities Include:
• Develops a clear understanding of the requirements of the project: communication with other interested parties is essential.
• Brings a breadth of experience (not necessarily financial) to bear on the problem.
• Works to solve the problem in a timely and efficient manner.
• Communicates the results to the risk managers, senior management, and other team members.
• On occasion it will be necessary to undertake urgent short-term research for senior management.
• Works with risk managers to advise them as to what to quantitative techniques and methodologies are available for their problem.
• May need to provide some support of previously produced solutions.
• Works with other members of QRD team to share skills.
• QRD is encouraged to support the improvement of MRM by recommending research projects in addition to those suggested by the risk managers.
• Identify risk methodologies which could be improved in collaboration with risk managers.
• Keep abreast of academic risk research, and how it might be applied to our business.
Skills Required:
• PhD in a quantitative discipline
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Good communicator of technical information to a range of audiences.
• Strong project management skills, including good self time-management, motivation, attention to detail, pragmatism, and initiative.
• Solid mathematical skills including probability and statistics
• Excellent IT skills. Much of the analysis is done using Excel, with supplementary programming in VB, S-Plus, Perl (or others), as appropriate.
• Experience of quantitative project work is essential.
• Real market experience, perhaps through trading, portfolio management etc., would be an advantage, but not necessary.
